Violent crime is a social phenomenon which unfortunately affects many Canadians. As a result, many provincial governments have taken an active approach in attempting to lessen the impact of violent crime on crime victims through various financial compensation programs. These programs differ from province to province and may aid in certain financial aspects of victimization, especially with regard to loss of wages, medical bills and cost of therapy.
